"We've got so many unreleased songs and B-sides we listen to, we've actually got about 88 B-sides. We were thinking of even maybe releasing them as a sort of Cosmic Debris part 2, maybe on iTunes or something." - Tim
Rick and Tim on their favourite TOTI track...
"I like 'I Started A Fire' and 'Twilight of the Innocents'. I like 'Shadows' a lot but the fans don't seem to like that one as much, it's weird! But.. I like it all!" - Tim
"Yeah, 'Twilight's' is a real standout, we're really proud of that, we feel we took quite a risk with it. 'End of the World' is another one that tends to get stuck your head, I hear our crew walking around whistling it." - Rick

The best was saved for Leeds and Norwich with 'A Life Less Ordinary' b-side 'Halloween' appearing on Halloween and 'Sometimes' b-sides, and Backwater cover, 'Melon Farmer' airing in Norwich.

"We're firming up some Irish dates before the end of the year too. It looks like we'll be doing Dublin, Belfast and a couple of other shows. Then we'll be taking some time off for Christmas. And after that we'll be getting back into the studio and starting work on some new stuff."
"There's talk of us trying to record a 5 or 6 track EP and putting it out in the spring. We'd put it out online and maybe on vinyl too. Then we're going back to Japan and possibly Australia and if we put this EP out we'll more than likely do some more UK shows and probably some festivals too. Then we'd look to release another EP in the second half of the year."
"Once we get the logistics set up with people like iTunes, it'd probably just be a few weeks between recording and release... ...we're off Warners. We've fulfilled our six album deal with them and to be honest we didn't want to re-sign. So we're weighing up our options at the moment. But we're definitely going to try and launch a new website before the new year, to make that more of a focus for things." - Mark

23rd October 2007 - ASH Video Interview
Over the weekend Tim and Rick take time out from the current UK Tour to record this exclusive video interview with ITV West.
22nd October 2007 - ASH & The Big Ask
Everyone attending the current UK Tour will see ASH have got Friends of the Earth on tour with them. Like a lot of people, ASH are really worried about climate change. Which is why they approached Friends of the Earth last month to offer their help in getting the word out about their Big Ask campaign which is calling on the UK Government to take urgent action on climate change.
ASH are now joining Friends of the Earth in urging the Government to strengthen their planned Climate Change Law this winter. If the campaign is successful, and the Government listen, the UK will be the first country to introduce annual and legally binding CO2 emission reduction targets. The UK will then be leading the way and setting an example to the rest of the world.
What you can do to help:
Go to www.thebigask.com and add your name to the campaign. You’ll be calling on your MP to vote for a strong Climate Change Law this winter. You can even record a video (we’ve just added ours see above) which will be sent directly to your MP. It’s a way of tackling your MP without having to meet him or her face to face.
Big Ask is a campaign that offers a solution to the climate change problem, but Friends of the Earth need your help in getting the message across loud and clear.
22nd October 2007 - ASH Gig On YouTube

These classics were also joined on the set by 'Twilight of the Innocents's' 'Dark and Stormy', played live for the very first time.

XFM will put the best questions to the band and they'll pick their favourite questions to win some Ash stash (signed stuff or maybe disguarded items from the dressing room floor). Simple.
You'll then be able to hear their answers and a pile of Ash tracks on air on Tuesday October 30 during Xu (10am-4pm). Get those burning questions off your chest at www.xfmmanchester.co.uk/ash.

5th October 2007 - ASH Get The Drinks In: Irish Car Bomb
4th October 2007 - Video Of The Week: Jesus Says
Just a year after the sun set on the golden 1977 era with three becoming four and 'A Life Less Ordinary' storming the UK top 10, the third consecutive Ash single to do so, the band returned in the autumn of 1998 with a new direction and 'Jesus Says'. The first single lifted from their second studio LP, the awesome and often underrated, 'Nu-Clear Sounds'.
The album saw the band reveal a rocker, deeper side shying away from producing "1977 part II". In 'Jesus Says', we have the biggest hit from what has often been referred to, correctly in some senses, as ‘dark times’ for the band. Don’t get dizzy.
1st October 2007 - ASH On The Balcony
ASH have played everywhere now! Whilst in Hamburg for the Reeperbahn Festival and on a break from their tour with Sportfreunde Stiller. ASH performed 'You Can't Have It All' live and acoustic on a tiny balcony above the Reeperbahn for Balcony TV... cosy!
Check out the video:
21st September 2007 - New German Tour Dates
ASH are currently on tour in Germany supporting Sportfreunde Stiller and will return again in November to play with Sparta and The Donnas on the Jägermeister Rock Liga tour.
Apparently the Jägermeister Rock Liga tour is a kind of league contest, where the audience chooses one winning band each night, and the overall winner of the whole tour will be invited to play a big final show in Berlin.
There's a new interview with Rick up on www.ash-official.com, about what ASH have been up to and the forthcoming touring.
"It's been so long since we've done a big UK tour, over three years now. I'm just itching for it to start. I think we might throw in some songs we haven't played this year, from the back catalogue. It's great to have enough material that we can mix it up every night. Myself and Mark are gonna DJ after some of the shows, which will end up with someone in casualty, no doubt."
"We have a European tour coming up in November / December. We'll be going to Norway and Germany mostly. We're also looking into some Irish shows in December to finish the year. Nothing is booked yet, but keep an eye here or on the MySpace site. They'll be up there as soon as we know."
18th September 2007 - ASH & Sportfreunde Stiller On Tour
Yesterday marked the begining of a run of tour dates for ASH in Germany, with their friends Sportfreunde Stiller. "We love those guys and their fans are always great to us so to be back in Germany playing arenas with them is amazing." - Mark. Last week Tav described Sportfreunde Stiller as "the German ASH... similar styles... except they sing in German!"
"We've also added in a few more Euro shows to fill in the gaps. We're back in Spain on the 21st for our 3rd festival there this season at the EUTOPIA FESTIVAL in Córdoba, then off to Austria to play The Weekender Club in Innsbruck on the 22nd, swiftly followed by a return to Abart in Switzerland (the scene of past carnage, see pic below!) on the 23rd and our own show in Hamburg at The Docks as part of the Reeperbahn Festival on the 27th. God help us all... See you in Hell!" - Mark
The previous show at Abart went so well they're going back... (Mark fell off the roof of the tour bus... whilst duelling with imaginary Jedi)
17th September 2007 - iTunes Festival: ICA London Live EP
Last week ASH released a live EP via download on itunes for £5.53. The EP consists of seven tracks recorded at the band's iTunes festival show at the London ICA on Sunday 8th July, with set list included tracks from current album 'Twilight of the Innocents' and classic hits:
'I Started A Fire', 'You Can't Have It All', 'Orpheus', 'A Life less Ordinary', 'Kung Fu', 'Twilight of the Innocents', 'Burn Baby Burn'.
17th September 2007 - End Of The World #62
'End of the World' charted at a very disappointed number 62 in the UK singles chart last night, partly due to a packaging error. On Friday with physical and download sales the single was on the edge of the top 30, but because neither 7" vinyls have the correct bar codes, they have not been scanned at the point of purchase and so will not count towards the singles chart position. The second vinyl should also have come with poster packaging, rather than just being in a clear sleeve.
'End of the World' is the first ASH release, excluding limited edition 7" vinyls and EPs, not to chart in the UK top 40 since 'Kung Fu' released in March 1995. The song is now likely to be the last single lifted from 'Twilight of the Innocents', though the band still plan to release a 'Twilight of the Innocents EP', which will include four new b-sides, to coincide with autumn UK tour. The recording of the b-sides is near completion, with the Tim lying down the lyrics when the band return to New York after their tour with Sportfreunde Stiller in Germany.
15th September 2007 - T4 Transmission / End Of The World
ASH were in Manchester yesterday filming for a T4 Transmission special. The band were shown around Manchester by Embrace's Danny McNamara, including a trip to Manchester City's City of Manchester Stadium. The filming finished with the band performing a six song acoustic set amongst the planes in the Manchester Science Museum aircraft hanger.
The set was a mix of tracks from current album 'Twilight of the Innocents' and classic hits. YCHIA, 'Burn Baby Burn', 'End of the World', 'Kung Fu', 'Polaris', 'Girl from Mars'. The programme will be aired on Channel 4 soon, details to follow.
ASH have headed down to London today before flying off to Germany for their tour with Sportfreunde Stiller. The band will then head back to New York before returning to UK for the autumn tour.
ASH are currently set to miss out on the UK top 40 with single 'End of the World' due to a packaging error. On physical and download sales the single is on the edge of the top 30, but because neither 7" vinyls have the correct bar codes, they have not been scanned at the point of purchase and so will not count towards the singles chart position. The second vinyl should also come with poster packaging, rather than just been in a clear sleeve. The single is currently hanging around the 50s.
13th September 2007 - End Of The World - Dublin Temple Music Centre
The first ever live performance of current single 'End of the World' recording during the encore of ASH's show Temple Music Centre, Dublin on Monday 4th June 2007.

'End Of The World' is released today in the UK as the new single off Twilight Of The Innocents. Is is available now on the following formats:

The much requested 'Singapore Song' has been renamed 'Seventh Circle' and this is the full studio version which never made the 'Meltdown' album.
The 7"s are backed with the early 'TOTI' recordings of 'Suicide Girls' AKA 'Palace Of Excess' and 'Shattered Glass'.

More on that later..." - Mark. Reviews, pictures of the gig and the beautiful things the papers said, at www.ash-official.com.
The setlist was: Lose Control, Burn Baby Burn, You Can't Have It All, Orpheus, End of the World, A Life Less Ordinary, Walking Barefoot, Renegade Cavalcade, Uncle Pat, Polaris, Blacklisted, Oh Yeah, Girl From Mars, Twilight of the Innocents // Jack Names The Planets, Ritual, Kung Fu
5th September 2007 - 'Twilight Of The Innocents' EP To Coincide With October/November UK Tour?
There has been a new interview with Tim Wheeler posted on www.ash-official.com. All about what ASH have been up to and what's to come...
"We've been recording B-sides recently, working on a bunch of tracks, maybe to go with 'Twilight Of The Innocents' for an EP around our tour. And then the plan is to get in the studio early next year and start bringing out singles, as of about March."
5th September 2007 - End Of The World Vinyl B-Sides
When ASH started the recording of album 'Twilight of the Innocents' in their own studio May last year, they originally planned to record the whole album live in studio sessions. With all three band members playing and being recorded together. The best takes would then be forged together to form the final versions of the tracks.
Before the band went on their break from recording on 5th July 2006, and decided upon a change in recording method, this produced two fully mixed tracks 'Suicide Girls' (aka 'Palace of Excess') and 'Shattered Glass'. Re-recorded versions of both of these songs appear on the album, but these original and different recordings of the tracks are what will appear as 7" vinyl b-sides to forthcoming single 'End of the World', released this coming Monday, 10th September.
"On the 7-inches we've got the first version of 'Palace of Excess' back when it was called 'Suicide Girls' and also 'Shattered Glass'. They were the first things we did in our studio. We ended up totally re-recording them, but these versions show the direction the album could've taken. We were trying to do it fully live, with one guitar, bass, drums and vocals. So they sound a lot rawer." - Tim
4th September 2007 - End Of The World - Colin Murray's Single Of The Week!
Colin Murray has made End Of The World the Single Of The Week on his Radio 1 show. Colin is on air Monday-Thursday at 10pm until midnight. ASH's new single will get played every night this week. Radio 1 97-99 FM. If you miss Colin's show live on air you can listen again online!
'End of the World' is yet to make it onto the Radio 1 playlist. 'End of the World' is released on CD, two limited edition 7" vinyls and download on September 10th! Pre-order it now!
3rd September 2007 - December Irish Tour Dates

31st August 2007 - End Of The World Video
So here it finally is, the new video for upcoming single 'End Of The World' (Released Sept 10th). It was shot when ASH were out in Japan to play Fuji Rock and is a tounge in cheek look at the last day on Earth through Death's eyes before he gathers the other 3 horsemen of the apocalypse to bring everything to an end. You know just killing time reading a porno, eating sushi etc... look out for the Lost In Translation references!
Big ups to Irish directors Daddy for producing such a cool video.
Please help spread this about by embedding it into your blogs, websites and myfaces. Find the code on ASH's Veoh.

30th August 2007 - End Of The World - Pre-Order
"You may have been led to believe that it is indeed the end of Ash...it's not! The band follow their headline appearance at this Reading / Leeds festival - Radio 1 / NME stage - with the release of 'End Of The World' on September 10th. The track, the third from their recent 'Twilight Of The Innocents' album is another aural salvo from the mighty armoury penned by Tim Wheeler and already proven a favourite on the band's recent sold out four night residency at London's Koko. The beguiling vocals underpinned with the snap, crackle and pop of a rhythm cascading out of the speakers, including some guest beat box improv, suggests that Ash still have the knack of hitting all the right notes."
Here's two different links to pre-orders for our upcoming single End Of The World released September 10th.
Townsends Records are running a great multi format offer ***Buy all 3 formats at a reduced price and save on postage***. Order Now!. Alternatively you can also pre-order now from HMV.

As 'Palace of Excess' is listed as 'Suicide Girls' it implies that these could be the demo versions. Demo versions of previous TOTI singles YCHIA and 'Polaris' were available via iTunes.
B-side 'Wasted On You' was one of the 27 songs originally demoed for the recording of 'Twilight of the Innocents', while 'Statis in Darkness' is a song left over from the 'Free All Angels' days. CD UK Single
1. End Of The World (Album Version)

It has also not yet been confirmed whether the vinyl b-sides would be lifted straight from the album 'Twilight of the Innocents' or be alternative versions of the songs. The fact that Recordstore.co.uk have listed 'Palace of Excess' as 'Suicide Girls' implies that these could be the demo versions. Live versions are unlikely as 'Palace of Excess' has only been played live once (Preston Feb '07), 'Shattered Glass' has not yet been played live in the UK and demo versions of YCHIA and 'Polaris' where available as iTunes downloads.
B-side 'Wasted On You' was one of the 27 songs originally demoed for the recording of 'Twilight of the Innocents', while 'Statis in Darkness' is a song left over from the 'Free All Angels' days. Whether 'Seventh Circle' has been written/finished since the recording of TOTI, is simply one of these 27 demos with a new title or another song from the ASH unused archive, has yet to be confirmed.

13th July 2007 - The London Koko Review ASH's Week At Their Place
So did you make it down to the church of Ash? Pity you if you didn't. They seem to have replaced Charlotte with three black trees, and just turned up the one remaining guitar to 11. And guess what? They are all the better for it. Arriving on stage to the sound of strings and lots of welly from the smoke machine, they tore in to I Started A Fire and did not look back over the next hour and half as old hits like Kung Fu and Girl From Mars are slung out into the ether with such fuzz punk force, that all you can do is stand in shock and awe as to how much fun a night out with Ash actually is. But don't take our word for it check out the forum on the official Ash site and read comments like "It was the best week of my life, with some of the nicest people I have ever met, all watching my favourite band."

"I think next spring, once we've finished touring 'Twilight Of The Innocents', we'll probably start releasing stuff straight away. We've already got some songs that never actually got recorded for this album. As soon as we have the time, we can just go into the studio and start recording them."
In the next few weeks... "we'll probably start getting a plan together for 'End Of The World'. We want to come up with some good creative ideas for that. And I'm going to finally edit the slash thing and put it up on YouTube. I think people should be quite interested to see a video of Chris Martin getting murdered!"

"A hot mix of crunchy melodies. ****" - Nuts

"A stash of great tunes.... Splendid." - Uncut
5th July 2007 - Scotland on Sunday Interview
Scotland on Sunday interview with Tim, where he talks about 'Twilight of the Innocents' and it being the band's last album, the importance of the album to them and moving with the times into the digital age.
"We're a band, we've got our own studio, we've got a fan base and the internet. Why not use that to get stuff out a lot faster and more direct? And it will be a lot more interactive because we can feed off people's reactions to stuff. We will aim to release at least three or four singles or EPs each year in the future. You won't just be stuck with people's perceptions being limited to one album that will form their opinion about you for the next three years." - Tim
5th July 2007 - The London Paper Interview
The London Paper website is home to a good interview with the band, where they talk about returning to a three piece, 'Twilight of the Innocents' being their last album and the meaning behind 'Palace of Excess'.
Tim: "It was the end of a contract situation and we wanted to be a three-piece. I think she (Charlotte) was a bit surprised. I think she would have liked to have continued doing her solo stuff and the band stuff, but we felt she was going to leave at a certain point anyway and this is such an important record for us, we needed to shake things up."
Such as by making this your last album and just focusing on singles?
Tim: "You can reach people a lot quicker if you just put out tracks, get more experimental and change people’s perceptions every two months."
And 'Sometimes' replaced 'Folk Song' on the Koko setlist last night.
4th July 2007 - ASH AOL Session Online
AOL have just made the session ASH recently recorded go live online today. Check the AOL Sessions website for videos of the session which included 'Polaris', 'You Can't Have It All', 'End Of The World', 'Twilight Of The Innocents', 'Teenage Kicks' and 'Ritual' and an interview and exclusive pics.
"We want to be able to use the Internet and just put tracks up when they're ready and maybe later compile them into records, it seems a good way of bowing out of that sort of format you're kind of trapped by," says Tim.
4th July 2007 - Last Night's Koko Setlist

At the Manchester instore last night, Rick stepped out from his kingdom of shadow replacing his drums with an acoustic guitar, and joining Tim and Mark in an all new ASH acoustic line up, playing current single 'Polaris', future single 'End of the World', YCHIA, GFM and BBB. Rick was also mic'ed but didnt provide any backing vocals.
After the gig Rick gave an exclusive two word review of his performance to ashtabs, "I sucked!". He actually didn't. Hooray.
Rick was dramatically sacked from backing vocals duties by ASH manager Tav after the band's performance at Glasto 1995. Rick had caved to Tim's egging on just before the band went on stage, despite no practice and not being able to hear Tim clearly behind his kit. The performance went out live on air. ooh-ooh aah.

Ash - The final album
Irish rock band announce radical new music industry business model
London, June 12th 2007 – International rock band Ash, have announced bold new plans to cease releasing future albums in the traditional way.
On the eve of what will become their final album, 'Twilight Of The Innocents', the band have taken the decision to only release singles in the future.
Known for consistently writing hit singles since the early 90’s (17 top 40 hits, an Ivor Novello award and five Top 10 albums), the band feel it is time to make a stand in the future digital arena by only releasing singles. Periodically, the band will release compilation cd’s featuring the aforementioned singles.
Famously known for their pro-active stance on the internet (the band were the first to cultivate a huge loyal following using their online message board, were the first to use the internet via a fledgling nme.com, to get fans to vote for which tour towns they should play and had the first ever number one single in the download charts), the band feel it is now time to fully embrace the digital future of the music industry.
Owning their own recording studio means that the band will be able to write, record and release their music almost instantly, their fans will then benefit from not having to wait the usual ‘years’ between albums.
At a time when the music industry is in flux and with record sales at an all-time low, marketing music in the traditional sense is becoming increasingly less financially viable. The band hope that by harnessing the power of the internet and by being more creative in the way their singles are marketed, the record company can maximise sales, increase profits and enhance their already impressive 13 year career.
Tim Wheeler from the band:
"The way people listen to music has changed, with the advent of the download the emphasis has reverted to single tracks. It hasn't helped that most people have forgotten how to make a decent album. I'm constantly disappointed with records I buy.
I believe our new album is the pinnacle of everything we've done thus far, and I'm proud that this will be remembered as our last album. The future lies elsewhere and we can have a lot of fun by changing things up. It's like the Wild West at the moment, a time to take chances and try out new ideas.
When you're tied to the album format, you find yourself waiting six months between finishing a record and releasing it. By leaving this behind we can enter a new phase of spontaneity and creativity. We have our own studio in New York, we can record a track and release it the next day if we feel like it, give it to people while it's fresh. We're the first band to do this , but I very much doubt we'll be the last.
We've been one of the best singles bands of the last two decades and we're still younger than a lot of bands on the current scene. I’m excited to push this claim further by dedicating ourselves wholly to the art of the single for the digital age."
13th June 2007 - End Of The World To Follow Polaris

27th May 2007 - Polaris Video And B-sides
The video for brilliant new single 'Polaris', out on Monday 18th June, is viewable at www.ash-official.com. The video is directed by close friend of the band Jeff Thomas (BBB, Orpheus, YCHIA videos). The single will be released one 2 track CD and two 2 track vinyls each accompanied by an exclusive b-side.
The b-sides are as follows: 'Come On Over' (CD), 'Chinese New Year' (Vinyl 1) and 'Kingdom of Shadow' (Vinyl 2).
'Chinese New Year' has not been heard of since it was last aired at an acoustic gig for Juice FM at Life Cafe in Liverpool, back in January 2001. Tim announced that night that it would be the last time the song was heard, though a clip of the song did appear on the 'Burn Baby Burn' DVD (April 2001). While this song has finally got an official recording and release, Mark has started rumours that we may soon also be hearing lost song 'Singapore Song'. "It’s comin... well that’s the plan. iTunes exclusive".
'Singapore Song' has achived legendary status amongst fans despite only be played once at the Ashtoria, London back in January 2000. The song had previously been demoed for both albums 'Free All Angels' and 'Meltdown' and featured Charlotte, who left the band in January 2006, on keyboards.
The song may eventually have a different title as 'Singapore Song' was only ever meant to be a working title and a line from the original version of the song has been reused for 'Candy' b-side 'The Sweetness of Death by the Obsidian Knife' released in October 2001... "She opened my arms to a million scars". A few years ago Tim suggested that this was a reason why we would never hear a finished version of the song and this now suggests some of the lyrics might have been changed.
'Come On Over' was one of the 27 songs originally demoed for the album 'Twilight of the Innocents'(out 2nd July), while 'Kingdom of Shadow' could be a new title for one of the other demos. YCHIA b-side 'Comet Tempel 1' was one of the original demos and known up until release as 'What is the Meaning?'.

There is a new interview with Rick McMurray up at ASH-Official, where he talks about amongst other things, what the band are up to at the moment, the German tour and the next single 'Polaris'... "It's probably the most piano-driven thing we've done. I'd hesitate to call it a ballad, cos I think it's a bit more upbeat than that, but it's very anthemic, with lush, orchestral strings. It's a great song."

Mark on the video for 'Polaris': "Yeah, it's shown from the eyes of these children. There are two teams of kids having an imaginary war fight in a forest, with sticks and stuff. Only it transforms so that you can actually see what they're imagining - with proper explosions and guns going off. It's supposed to be about loss of innocence. It's by the same guy (Jeff Thomas) who did the last video and the treatment just sounded really interesting."
"We'll be amongst the trees somewhere playing, I think. But hopefully we'll get to check out the explosions too. Although, knowing me, I might end up getting a leg blown off. And then my footballing abilities would be even worse!"

The song starts off with a mix of samples including fire engine sirens and a Japanese girl screaming "RIIIIIIIIIIIICK" from their first ever gig in Tokyo, just like the demo which used to be available via Mystery Recordings.
Though the first play of this track has not yet been officially confirmed. But if you've heard the demo, you haven't heard anything yet! The session recordings of 'You Can't Have It All', 'Twilight of the Innocents' (In Hell) and 'Girl from Mars' and interviews broadcast on last night's Colin Murray show on Radio 1 can be downloaded from www.ashfiles.com. You will need to register for free first, which is well worth it as there's a whole host of ASH bootlegs and demos to be had.

4th April 2007 - YCHIA Multi-Buy Recommendation
ASH have recommended to everyone who wants to buy the YCHIA single multi-buy option (3 formats for £3.99) to get it from Townsend-records.co.uk. Apparently non-UK residents don't pay VAT, so it's even cheaper for them. Unfortunately non-UK postcodes don't count for the UK charts.
"I know I'm biased, but all three b-sides ('Saskia', 'Comet Tempel 1' and 'Ghosts') are probably the best b-sides the band have ever written. Also, the 7" is limited, so will probably sell out within a couple of days after it hits the shops." - Tav (ASH's Manager)

16th March 2007 - 'You Can't Have It All' Video
For anyone who hasn't seen already the 'You Can't Have It All' video is up on ASH's Myspace. You can also select it on the normal music video channels including MTV2 and Kerrang! 'You Can't Have It All' will be released on April 16th.
15th March 2007 - How 'You Can't Have It All' Will Be Released
Mark on how YCHIA will be released: "The label want us to do 1 low cost CD. Meaning only one B-side. The difference is they can then sell in the store for only 1.99 rather than Maxi singles (2 b-sides) which are 2.99. Big stores like Woolworths will not stock maxi singles because of the higher price. Warners are adament that we have stock in the widest range of shops including Woolworths.
With Vinyl sales soaring again and Kids getting into collecting 7"s (when did this all start!) they also want to do 2 seperate 7"s with exclusive tracks. One a gatefold, one a fold out poster that slots into the gatefold, both being colored vinyl. Warners seem to be pushing the collecting element to these and they'll be priced very cheaply at 99p each.
Then they'll be digital which will see iTunes with exclusive versions of YCHIA as these also count towards chart position. So we're making avaliable, Live, Acoustic and Demo versions for download.
According to Warners YCHIA needs this kinda formating to maximise sales and push for the highest Chart we can get.
We still got over a month and are added to Kerrang! TV, MTV 2, The Box and all those digital TV channels so that's looking good. We have a bunch of national TV 'performances' scheduled and have our fingers crossed that radio 1 will bite. So it's all stearing in the right direction so far."
The artwork for the CD promo is similar to that of the Koko Advert with the ASH logo and YCHIA written in dark red, though this is likely to be changed for the formal release.

Radio 1's Jo Whiley aired the first play on new ASH single 'You Can't Have It All' this morning. If you have seen ASH during their Higher Education tour and heard 'You Can't Have It All' already... you havent anything yet! The studio version is awesome! If this isn't a hit single, there is no justice in the world!

Tim wasn't interviewed this morning but will be with Jo tonight on her BBC Radio 1In New Music We Trust show. Where she'll also be playing live tracks from last night's (6th March) Higher Education tour show in Southamption.
6th March 2007 - 'You Can't Have It All' Video Exclusive On NME.com
Wanna see the new video for our come back single? Head over to NME.com tomorrow morning (Wed 7th March). They have the exclusive. ASH shot the video at Dukes Island Studios in London with ASH's long term friend, and director of Burn Baby Burn and Orpheus videos, Jeff Thomas.
The video is a straight up performance piece with us rocking out in a sound stage under a massive triangle of lights (that took 2 days to hang!) and using a lot of stop motion editing.
Disaster almost struck when bad weather in New York caused massive flight cancelations and a one point it looked like the video was going to be cancelled because Tim and Mark's flight was cancelled. 10 hours later their replacement flight was overbooked and they were put on an even later flight which was then also delayed! Their only saving grace was that they were given free upgrades to business class because of the nightmare. Upon landing in Heathrow they were driven straight to the shoot and into wardrobe 2 hours late. Luckily Rick was there to shoot his solo stuff. Everything got caught up and the video looks great. Planes, Trains & Automobiles indeed!

He also discussed the reasons behind legendary lost track 'American Devil' not making it on to ASH's debut mini album Trailer, "when I was in 'Nam in '89...", which demo track he thinks has potential to be revisited in the future, and the meaning behind the lyrics to Shed demo tape track 'Old Guy' ...more to follow...?

Head over to the new OH YEAH WEBSITE to check out the ambitious plans and if you feel inclined buy a T-shirt, all proceeds will be going towards setting up this amazing and much needed creative center, which will include a recording studio, rehearsal rooms, a performance area, music industry offices, training suites and a multi-media center.

3rd February 2007 - So How Many Of 14 Songs Mixed Will Make The Album?
"We think that really long albums tend to be annoying... We're thinking of keeping it to 12. Whatever's left off will become b-sides.
Rick has been laying down drums for the last 2 days on 5 of the songs we demo-ed but didn't record. When we get round to it these will be finished and used as b-sides. Rick's doing these drums now so he won't have to fly back so often later on.
We have a lot of songs left over from previous albums that we're also thinking of finishing off to be used as b-sides. Music Factory." - Mark
2nd February 2007 - Ash Record Tribute Song. But For Who?
"Straight after finishing an album you'd think there'd be time to chill out? Well you would but no, the very next day we were back in the studio recording a track for a tribute compilation CD. What is the song? and who is the tribute in honor of?
Well that's for us to know and you to ponder!
We requested our favorite song of this 'artist / band' and got the 'ok' to do it. We're pretty stoked, we nailed it in 2 days and are super happy with how it's turned out. So until we're allowed to say or release any details. It's over to you guys to guess away..." - Mark
2nd February 2007 - Guess The Album Title Hangman
On the official Ash forum 'A' was foolishly picked as the first letter for round one of guess the new Ash album title hangman, and there is no 'A' in the title. Play in round 2. 'toti'...

22nd January 2007 - Don't Believe The Touts!
Despite what some touts are saying on ebay and other auction sites not all of the Higher Education UK Tour gigs are sold out and some tickets are still available from www.ents24.com and www.gigsandtours.com. Also tickets for other gigs may also be available directly in person from the venues.

19th January 2007 - Higher Education Tour 2007
Ash's Higher Education Tour is pretty much sold out online. At about 3pm www.gigsandtours.com still had a limited amount of tickets for some gigs, but before you go on ebay, try ringing the venues or if you can go to their ticket office. As some venues will still have tickets, Liverpool Uni do.
Gigsandtours.com also advertised tickets for another London gig, previously not listed, at ULU on Friday 9th March. This is sold out.
18th January 2007 - Tickets Tomorrow
Tickets for all venues will be available tomorrow from www.ents24.com, I presume at the same time as www.gigsandtours.com (9am), but with cheaper booking fees. You can also contact the venues directly, listings.
For anyone who missed the announcement, Ash will going out across the UK in February and March on the Higher Education Tour.
18th January 2007 - Pre-Sale Information
According to Ticketline the information Ash were given about pre-sale tickets was incorrect. Only Bristol / Sheffield / Southampton and London had a pre-sale this morning, which were available via the link sent around to mailing list/forum/myspace members. Tickets for other venues will be available tomorrow check venue listings. (Though some venues are selling today if you mention pre-sale... hint Newcastle but not Liverpool or Manchester)

V Formation are the support for Ash's upcoming 'Higher Education' tour. The band are signed to Tav's (ash manager) Double Dragon record label.
17th January 2007 - DMH On Michael Brauer Mixing The Album & More...
"We had inital reservations (Michael having mixed for Coldplay, Travis, The Kooks) but gave him a shot at doing one song before Christmas to see if it worked out. We're always in on the mix aswell so if we don't like the direction it's going in we have it changed. We wouldn't let Michael mix this album if he was gonna make it tame. The 3 tracks we've already mixed are sounding great. 'You Can't Have It All' was a difficult mix that took a long time but we nailed it last night around 1am and we're very happy with how it's turned out.
Truth is Michael really wants to get doing some 'rockier' stuff and see this album as a good chance to show he can.
Production wise deffo rawer than Meltdown which was prob too slick but hey that's what we were trying to do with it.
We've pulled out all the stops on a few songs which kinda suited it but there's also stuff we've wanted to keep more basic.
The album titles decided but the label want to hold off on announcing it until closer to release for press reasons." - Mark
16th January 2007 - Mixing Underway...
Yesterday Ash began the mixing process in NY with Michael Brauer. Michael's mixed loads of massive records including Coldplay, Travis, The Kooks, Ben Folds and Idlewild. He's really into making Ash's album sound amazing and after the first 2 mixes; 'Polaris' and 'I Started A Fire' Ash are stoked with the results. Today 'You Can't Have It All' is being mixed.

12th January 2007 - Website And Message Board Update
"Here's the current situation. We've purchased the new Vbulletin Software, problem arose because Warners servers need a major upgrade to handle the php and mysql, whatever the fuck that means. They'll know by Monday if they can or cannot do the upgrade without fucking other sites they host. If they can't we'll be hosting the new site independently. We already have a plan if that's the case.
We want the new site up ASAP just as much as you guys do.
There's a great new media player already built, but we're now tracking original BETA tapes of all our video's that got misplaced during the transfer from Infectious to Atlantic to Warners, blah, blah.... they've found most of them but are waiting to send them all over to get digitized.
It's taking ways longer than we'd wished but we'll hopefully have a great new online home for everyone here. It'll be like a news site, integted forums and social network (including personal customizable profiles) site all in one, oh and chat too, all under one new simple login. Proper web2.0 stuff.
Bear with us, it's gonna get much better." - Mark
10th January 2007 - The Boy Who Lived In Hell
"I'm still breathing, my heart's still beating" toti - Mark
Could 'toti' be an acronym for the title of the record? I wonder...

4th January 2007 - Strings Recording Videos
Studio video of the strings recording session!. "Just before the holidays Tim flew out to LA to oversee the recording of the string arrangements for the tracks 'Polaris' and 'The Boy Who Lived In Hell'.
Legendary composer Paul Buckmaster conducts the 20 piece orchestra in these videos that Tim recorded on his camera. Most of these are sections of the epic 'In Hell' during rehearsals, we don't want to give away the full track but you get a good sneak peak into how it's sounding. We also don't wanna give away too much of the theme to 'Polaris' just yet so there's one short clip of it being recorded from the control room." - Mark
